I had to go on a Saturday “first come” basis and there were quite a few of us filing in the door when they opened. I was afraid we would be there for hours. Well, I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of waiting to get in and thankful for all the time and care given to us. It was a total of just over an hour and we were on our way, and that time was almost 100% someone in the room with us. Amazing!!

Excellent animal care and very knowledgeable. Our dog was recently bitten by a snake. They told us to come immediately and took us right into the office. They relieved her pain and gave her 2 medications to relieve the inflammation and counteract infection’ I was so pleased to see how promptly and professionally they handled the situation.

It was my first visit, I had gotten lost and receptionist helped me get directly to you, loved how my birds info was taken previously before her actual visit and how staff visited and introduced themselves to me and her before she went into the actual visit room, a major plus being able to wait away from dogs and cats in a separate waiting area yet being able to see the whole office because of the glass windows, it was extremely important to me about how much my bill was going to be because of my husband just going back to work and I got a bill breakdown before I made my decision with no pressure whatsoever from staff as to which way I should go, and was even told I could go in steps if need be, most places are not so nice and helpful, I drove a little over an hour just for them to see my bird and it was worth it if it had not been for this practice I would have lost my cockatoo shortly I’m afraid, but believe it or not I got her home gave her the first dose of her meds and she was already eating and drinking again very shortly after not so much after 2 days!!! Which definitely told me she had been given very good care that was dependable and trustworthy, and last but not least I got a follow up phone call the next day to make sure of how she was doing…overall A x10 service!

Everything about this trip was beyond my expectations! The staff here is phenomenal and I could not have been more at ease. I had my daughter’s rabbit in for his first ever vet visit. We got him from an abusive breeder when he was 6 months old and he doesn’t do well with new people. They listened and understood and literally sat on the floor to keep him comfortable and safe. I am so happy I was able to go here and it was nice to hear we are doing a good job with his care and how much we love him 🙂

“We were lucky to find RIVER ROAD ANIMAL HOSPITAL last summer when we were in the area on vacation. Several months prior to our trip our 11 yr. old lab injured her back leg while playing outside. She limped for awhile afterwards but seemed to be doing better when it was time to leave on our trip. However, midway through our travels we noticed that she could barely stand on her “bad leg” and was limping. Luckily we were in the Willmington-Southport area and happened on “River Road” via the phone book and internet search. Thank goodness we did as we were truly impressed and thankful for the wonderful service, care, and professionalism of Dr. Travis and her staff! Our dog ended up needing surgery to repair her leg so we went ahead and did the surgery right then & there at RR not only to relieve the pain our dog was in — but because we felt so confident and impressed w/ the immediate care we had received. The surgery and post-op treatment was so complete & detailed from start to finish with the entire staff being a part of our dog’s recovery! River Road puts most Vet Offices to shame: the office is bright and cheerful – and welcoming, the staff is very friendly & helpful and Dr. Travis is amazing….with her compassion and bedside manner. And, she makes you feel like your pet is her most important patient! (Our dog even received laser treatment following surgery to help the healing….which certainly worked very well as we were on our way & heading home few days later! Thank you, Technician Brad! ) And, thank you RIVER ROAD for being there when we needed you.”
